About

Why this exists.

Leaders are asked to make expensive decisions on the strength of statistics nobody has checked.

A number appears in a report. It gets quoted in an article, then a slide, then a board deck. Somewhere in that chain the caveats fall off, the scope widens, and a narrow finding becomes a verdict on an entire category. By the time it reaches a budget meeting, the person quoting it usually cannot say where it came from.

The Hype Index scores that chain. Not just whether the research is sound, but how far its popular use has drifted from what it actually measured.

Every claim gets a verdict, a published component score, and a call with a date on it. The calls resolve in public and stay on the record whether they held or missed. A newsletter issue is dead in two days. A record gets more useful every month.
